MONKEY BARS

 

When I was young the world made sense

My mind was pure and so naïve

The only thing that mattered to me

Was if the sun was gonna shine

I didn’t care why stars were in the sky

I didn’t know why two and three was five

When I was young the world made sense to me

Sense to me

 

And in my mind I could fly so high

Life was sweet and I was carefree

And I could be anything

Anything that I could dream of

I didn’t care how all the words were spelled

I didn’t think ‘bout what the future held

When we were kids

We’d sing songs but we never knew the words

We turned on the radio and this is what we heard

Now I know what you get to know

By growing up and getting older

And I must say what I know today

Has left me wishing I was younger

I wanna go back to when I was

Sliding down slides and climbing monkey bars
